About The Position

Job Title : CT Tech

Profession : Imaging Services

Specialty : Imaging

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology; less than 1 year experience in CT preferred

License : Required

Certifications : ARRT Radiography, ARRT Computed Tomography, Basic Life Support (BLS)

Description :

The CT Tech must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs.

Dependability, accountability, and cooperation are essential.

The role involves providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to departmental procedures.

The CT Tech should possess the knowledge and ability to obtain quality diagnostic studies safely.

The technician will perform a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.

They will set up equipment to provide imaging services and position patients for procedures.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions :

Demonstrate the ability to adjust technique to ensure patients receive the lowest possible dose of ionizing radiation while maintaining image quality.

Report any problems regarding malfunctioning equipment for timely correction.

Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment per infection control policies and departmental schedules.

Verify proper clinician orders for procedures.

Obtain complete clinical histories and assess for contraindicating conditions.

Follow established procedures for the administration of contrast media to prevent patient deterioration.

Ensure proper patient identification and usage of right and left markers.

Review CT / radiographic images for clinical acceptability and release patients accordingly.

Respond to emergency situations and ensure crash carts are restocked.

Assist other technologists in all modalities when needed.

Observe patient conditions and evaluate situations that may require physician intervention.

Maintain patient privacy and dignity throughout examinations.

Demonstrate competence in procedures and techniques appropriate for patient age.

Organize schedules and priorities to complete required activities within designated timeframes.

Follow physician instructions during procedures and exams.

Understand and document preprocedural verification processes.

Maintain competency in venipuncture.

Education and Communication :

Clearly explain the purpose and nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation.

Address patient questions, concerns, or contraindications satisfactorily.

Participate in the orientation and training of departmental employees.

Provide patients with preparatory instruction regarding procedures.

Ensure documentation is concise, legible, and uses precise terminology.

Read daily emails to stay informed about assignments and complete all mandatory training.

Quality Control :

Consistently produce acceptable images, as evidenced by feedback and audits.

Ensure equipment is operational and properly calibrated before each use.

Send all studies to the PACS immediately after completion.

Complete all studies in the RIS before finalizing in the PACS.

Operations :

Restock linens and supplies and maintain a clean, orderly department.

Transport and position patients and assist them on and off procedure tables.

Perform patient charging during service.

Apply shielding and immobilization devices as needed.

Assist others upon request to enhance departmental efficiency.

Maintain prompt communication with supervisors regarding responsibilities.

Keep productivity rates consistent with co-workers.

Understand operations associated with the CT department.

Comply with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.

Be prepared to take call when necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.
