- Job Summary
We are seeking a
- compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OTR / L)
- or
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA / L)
- to join our growing team.
This role emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and safetysupporting the growth of
- children, adolescents, and adults
- in inclusive, client-centered therapy environments. The ideal candidate is passionate about serving diverse populations, dedicated to evidence-based and trauma-informed practice, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, neuroaffirming team culture.
- ResponsibilitiesFor Occupational Therapist (OTR / L) :
- Evaluate clients physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities to determine individualized needs and create client-centered treatment plans.
- Provide occupation-based interventions to improve function, regulation, and participation across home, school, work, and community environments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (physicians, social workers, SLPs, teachers, and support staff) to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate clients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic strategies, adaptive techniques, and environmental modifications to promote independence.
- Maintain accurate documentation through treatment notes, progress updates, and discharge summaries.
- Supervise and mentor Level I and II OT students as appropriate.
- For Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA / L) :
- Deliver client-centered interventions under the supervision and direction of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Accurately document treatment sessions, progress, and outcomes per Rise policies and state regulations.
- Collaborate with the supervising OT on updates to treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge recommendations.
- Facilitate monthly supervision meetings following
- Michigan regulatory guidelines and the AOTA Code of Ethics
- Educate clients, caregivers, and team members on strategies to improve daily participation and self-management skills.
- Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (or Associates degree for COTA)
- Valid
- Michigan OT or OTA license
- Strong understanding of sensory processing, emotional regulation, and executive functioning
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
- Commitment to neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, and evidence-based practice
- Preferred Skills
- Pediatric through adult experience (ages 2young adult)
- Knowledge of sensory integration and emotional regulation frameworks
- Case management, documentation, and EMR proficiency
- Collaborative team communication and coaching skills
