The Engineer II will assist in developing and executing Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) models that improve system availability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness for U.S. Navy platforms. QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Experience : Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required. Four (4) to seven (7) years of engineering experience supporting DoD, U.S. Navy, or similar technical programs. Demonstrated experience performing data analysis, engineering modeling, or logistics support functions..Technical : Knowledge of Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) modeling, system engineering analysis, and reliability-based decision support. Experience with modeling tools such as OPUS Suite (OPUS and SIMLOX) or equivalent reliability and availability simulation software. Familiarity with Navy logistics and maintenance data systems such as DECKPLATE, OARS, and ReMAD. Working knowledge of Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) and Functional Block Diagrams (FBDs) used in readiness modeling. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong communication and technical writing skills with the ability to document findings clearly and collaborate across teams.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support RBS model development and execution. Assist in building and validating Readiness Based Sparing models using the Navys OPUS Suite to evaluate readiness, cost, and performance metrics.Perform engineering data analysis. Collect and interpret configuration, provisioning, and maintenance data to prepare accurate model input and ensure consistency across systems.Assist in technical evaluations. Analyze system configurations, mission profiles, and maintenance histories to identify critical components and spares candidates for inclusion in RBS models.Support diagram development. Create and update Reliability and Functional Block Diagrams to illustrate component interdependencies, redundancies, and failure effects.Conduct simulation analyses. Run Monte Carlo simulations and other analytical methods to measure operational availability, maintenance impact, and cost trade-offs.Review and document results. Prepare summaries, technical notes, and performance reports to support NAVSEALOGCEN reviews and decision-making.Maintain model data accuracy. Ensure that engineering data, configuration inputs, and results are traceable and meet Government quality and data management standards.Collaborate with senior engineers. Participate in peer reviews, model validation activities, and technical discussions to verify model accuracy and performance outcomes.Identify improvement opportunities. Recommend adjustments to modeling processes or data inputs to enhance simulation accuracy and efficiency.Provide customer support. Participate in technical briefings, respond to data calls, and assist in preparing deliverables for stakeholder reviews.
