At Regeneron, we are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and highly motivated individual to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team as the Vice President of R&D Finance. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance, this role will serve as a key partner to Regeneron's R&D leadership team, providing strategic financial oversight, operational analytics, and leadership for clinical trial, program, and functional budgets. The Vice President of R&D Finance will also contribute to company-wide financial planning and analysis, support business development assessments, and mentor finance team members to foster growth and excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the R&D Finance organization of 25 team members, overseeing a $3B annual budget growing to $6B.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Serve as a key finance business partner to Regeneron's R&D leadership across research, clinical, chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC), and other key external stakeholders.
- Establish strong relationships across the R&D organization to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.
- Provide budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and resource management support to R&D functions.
- Lead quarterly R&D reviews to assess trends, key spend drivers, and operational insights.
- Partner with the FP&A team to prepare company-level financials for budgets, forecasts, monthly and quarterly closes, and budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Support modeling of the overall pipeline, including forecasts, long-range planning, scenario analysis, and valuations.
- Deliver insightful financial analyses to guide clinical program investment decisions and corporate development projects.
- Actively contribute to FP&A initiatives, driving process improvements and conducting ad hoc analyses to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with the Accounting team to ensure accurate financial close processes, including R&D accruals, while maintaining SOX-compliant financial systems.
- Participate in evaluating corporate development projects, including analyses for M&A, licensing, and clinical program investments.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
20+ years of progressive professional experience with increasing responsibility, scope, and leadership.Extensive experience in biotech / pharma, with a proven track record in leading budgeting and forecasting processes.Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including proficiency with financial systems and tools.Demonstrated ability to provide insightful analysis and recommendations that drive decision-making.Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.Exceptional business partnering skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams and establishing strong relationships.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, combined with the ability to see the bigger picture.Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.Advanced degree (MBA and / or CPA) is highly desirable.Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining strategic thinking and operational excellence.Salary Range (annually) : $300,000.00 - $500,000.00
