Position or Project Summary :

The Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) seeks a candidate for the position of Education Intern, who has an authentic interest in the mission and work of the VMHC. The Education Intern will assist in all aspects of the education team's role within the Education & Engagement Division. The primary focus of this internship will be to help with tour groups in The Story of Virginia and Our Commonwealth exhibitions. Additional tasks will include administrative work, assisting with other student and family programming needs, and conducting research for program development. This position is eligible for university internship credit and is funded at $13.00 / hour up to 135 hours.

Duties & Responsibilities :

• Leading field trip programming, both in-house and via distance learning.
• Preparing for and assisting with additional public programs (ex : Virginia History Day, Homeschool Open House, First Fridays, Sensory Friendly Events, etc.).
• Performing other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will :

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, a basic knowledge of Virginia or American history, and a desire to learn more about museum education / public history. In addition, primary availability on weekday mornings is required.
