About The Position
Job Title : Certified Instrument Processing Technician

Hours per Shift : 8 Hours
Experience : Less than 1 year of previous experience in central sterilization or high-level disinfection, or completion of a Sterile Processing program required.
License : Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) required.
Certifications : Instrument Specialist Certification preferred.
Must-Have :
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and maintain accurate records.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various departments, leaders, and staff.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and task completion.
Demonstration of leadership qualities.
Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel for database management.
Experience and knowledge in steam sterilization, low temperature sterilization, decontamination, and related processes.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process defects.
Description :
The Certified Instrument Processing Technician role is responsible for quality assurance and maintenance of all automated processing equipment.
The technician will manage inventory volumes and expiration dates, and order supplies as needed.
They will receive, sort, decontaminate, sterilize, or high-level disinfect instruments, labeling and packaging them for distribution.
Accurate logs for all processing room requirements must be maintained.
The technician will adhere to departmental policies, guidelines, and national standards for processing.
Identification of single-use equipment or equipment damage is required, which should be communicated with service lines.
Performing leak testing and manual cleaning verification is essential.
The technician will prepare equipment for high-level disinfection or sterilization as per manufacturer instructions and policies.
Sorting, labeling, packaging, and inventorying reusable equipment for distribution is part of the role.
Support for colleagues as an advanced knowledge professional is expected.
Participation in departmental meetings and teamwork is encouraged.
The technician must comply with all policies and standards, including maintaining patient health information confidentiality.
