In this role, you’ll be responsible for reviewing and underwriting applications for consumer direct and indirect loans , home improvement , home equity , credit cards , and lines of credit . You’ll ensure internal customers are served promptly and professionally while providing guidance and support to frontline staff on loan policies, procedures, products, and decisions.
You’ll also communicate with staff to gather additional information or documentation needed for accurate and timely credit decisions, ensuring each loan meets both member needs and Credit Union standards.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and analyze members’ current financial positions to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit. Approve, deny, or escalate loan requests as appropriate, requesting additional information when needed.
Review post-funding loan terms, conditions, and stipulations to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Duties
Assist in processing new member accounts and loans from indirect channels.
Ensure all loan information is accurate and complete for decision-making within the Credit Union’s loan origination system.
Analyze data to make informed decisions beyond automated system capabilities.
Ensure full compliance with Fair Lending laws and federal regulations.
Present loan requests exceeding your lending authority for higher-level approval as required by policy.
Performance Expectations
Underwriting and lending support functions are completed efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
Members and internal teams receive timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service.
Lending decisions are well-analyzed, clearly communicated, and align with Credit Union objectives.
Delinquency and write-off levels remain within established targets.
Strong relationships are maintained across departments and with management.
Qualifications : Qualifications
Education / Certification :
Required Knowledge :
Solid understanding of financial services, products, and Credit Union lending operations.
Working knowledge of consumer and residential lending practices, regulatory standards, and loan documentation requirements.
Experience :

Exceptional analytical, financial, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication, interviewing, and public relations abilities.
Strong attention to detail with a professional appearance and attitude.
Proficient in loan origination software, Microsoft Office, and related business equipment.
