Job Description :

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our growing team. This position will help assist bringing the tax function in house, and will play a key role in managing the company's tax compliance, planning, and reporting functions. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, possess strong analytical skills, and support the team in solving complex tax matters. This role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, work collaboratively with internal teams, and ensure compliance with all tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

Tax Compliance & Reporting :

Review and prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns, primarily partnership filings, with some corporate filings. (Forms 1065 and 1120)

Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns in accordance with tax laws and company policies.

Review and prepare workpapers to support tax returns and filings, including tax depreciation reports.

Review and prepare quarterly tax distribution calculations.

Review and prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions in compliance with ASC 740 (FAS 109) for U.S. tax matters.

Review and prepare various other non-income tax filings, such as personal property tax returns and franchise tax returns, as needed.

Tax Planning & Research :

Conduct research on complex tax issues and interpret tax laws, regulations, and court cases to develop strategies for reducing tax liabilities.

Assist in tax planning efforts related to mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate restructuring activities.

Identify opportunities for tax savings and improvements to the tax function.

Audit Support :

Assist with internal and external tax audits, including preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with audit requests.

Collaborate with other departments to provide requested information to auditors.

Process Improvement & Documentation :

Review and recommend improvements to existing tax processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Prepare and maintain up-to-date tax compliance and planning documentation to support decision-making.

Assist with initial implementation of tax software and importing prior year tax locators.

Team Leadership and Collaboration :

Mentor and provide guidance to junior tax staff.

Work closely with finance, accounting, legal, and other departments to ensure tax notices and issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner.

Participate in the training and development of team members, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing.

Other Duties :

Stay current on changes to federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations.

Assist with ad-hoc tax projects as necessary.

Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. A master's in taxation or accounting is a plus.

Certifications : CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred.

Experience : 3+ years of experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both. Experience with tax software and accounting systems (e.g., OneSource, CCH Axcess, Corptax, or similar).

Skills & Competencies :

Foundational knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, including corporate and partnership taxation.

Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.

Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in tax filings and reporting.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Environment :

Full-time position.

Some overtime may be required during tax season or special projects.

Compensation ranges from $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 based on experience. #LI-ST1 #LI-Remote
