Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 03 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med / Surg position providing care to infectious disease patients, requiring a WV or compact RN license. Responsibilities Work in an acute care Med / Surg unit with 18 private rooms dedicated to infectious disease and isolation patients Patient populations include those with COVID, MRSA, C-Diff, and other infectious diseases Typical patient ratios are 1 : 5-6, or 1 : 4 for COVID patients, staffed with 3-4 RNs per shift 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required Block scheduling may be accommodated based on unit needs Travelers are required to float first to other Med / Surg units and may be assigned patients within skillset if floated to Tele Epic EMR is used, with one day of EMR orientation provided No on-call requirement, but travelers may be called off for low census Royal blue scrubs are mandatory; jackets must be royal blue scrub jackets Primary responsibilities include caring for patients with a variety of infectious diseases in a private room setting Charge nurse is present 24 / 7 and takes patient assignments on night shift Two CNAs support each shift, and respiratory therapy manages Cpap, Bipap, or High flow equipment as needed No requirement to titrate cardiac drips; common infusions include antibiotics and Heparin First-time travelers may be considered Holiday coverage requirements will be determined by unit needs One day of Epic orientation followed by one day on the floor with a preceptor is provided before working independently Returning travelers are not eligible if they have worked within WVU Medicine in the past 2 years or have reached a year of cumulative travel assignment across the system Travelers may only work within WVU for up to one year before a 2-year break is required Requirements Active WV RN or compact license required Minimum of 2 years recent Med / Surg experience Current BLS (AHA) certification required Strong knowledge in Med / Surg, infectious disease, and isolation precautions required Must provide an unexpired copy of driver's license for consideration No previous permanent employment at any WVU Medicine location within the last 2 years Travelers must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility for eligibility Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624322.
