Voltage Park is building a machine learning cloud infrastructure business from the ground up. As part of this effort, we're looking for a Senior Data Center Technician to join our team. You'll be monitoring some of the world's most advanced equipment and systems within our HPC data center.
This is a full-time role, on-site in Puyallup, Washington. We are not able to provide sponsorship for this position.
Primary Responsibilities
Data Center Operations
Assist with rack / stack of servers, switches, and network gear, ensuring proper cabling connectivity.
Maintain documentation of cabling layouts, patching records, and as-built drawings.
Support troubleshooting of connectivity issues related to cabling infrastructure.
Leadership & Team Guidance
Lead and direct day-to-day activities of cabling / installation crews.
Mentor junior technicians, providing training on structured cabling standards and best practices.
Coordinate with project managers and supervisors regarding work progress, materials, and site conditions.
Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with data center operational procedures.
Structured Cabling & Infrastructure
Install, route, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber optic cabling within the data center.
Install racks, patch panels, ladder racks, cable trays, and structured cabling support systems.
Perform and document cable testing / certification using appropriate tools.
Ensure clean, well-organized cabling with proper management and labeling practices.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure installations follow BICSI, TIA / EIA, NEC, and company standards.
Ensure cable infrastructure follows industry best practices
Conduct spot checks for workmanship quality and proper labeling / management.
Support audits and inspections related to cabling and infrastructure.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience in data center or structured cabling installation.
Strong knowledge of Cat5e / 6 / 6a / 7 copper cabling and fiber optic systems.
Experience with rack / stack, patch panel terminations, and cable management in a data center environment.
Ability to read and interpret cabling layouts, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Familiarity with BICSI and TIA / EIA standards.
Previous experience acting as a crew lead or point of contact on-site.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and install equipment in racks.
Work in data center environments, including confined spaces, raised floors, and overhead cabling areas.
Willingness to work flexible shifts and travel to other data center sites if required.
