Child Development Specialist for the BRIDGES at Lake Worth West Program

The primary function of the Child Development Specialist (CDS) is to support the growth and well-being of children 0 to 5 years of age, through developmental assessments, individualized support and collaboration with parents. This role involves assessing developmental progress, identifying areas for improvement, and creating activities to foster cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth. By providing guidance on play-based learning, nurturing environments, and developmental activities, specialists empower caregivers to promote healthy development and address potential delays or challenges.

Child development specialist also designs and implements evidence-based activities for parents and children to promote developmental progress in critical areas such as language, motor skills, and social-emotional growth. Through guided play sessions, workshops, and home-based interventions, specialists empower caregivers with the knowledge and tools to create enriching environments that stimulate learning and exploration. By modeling and coaching effective interaction strategies, specialists help parents engage their children in activities that promote cognitive development, emotional regulation, and social skills, ultimately enhancing the parent-child relationship and supporting the child's overall well-being. ‎

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Facilitate the "Raise ME Up" class for parents of children ages 0-5 identified as low scoring on the ASQ-3.

Coordinate and provide parent-child activities that promotes child development and increase parenting skills.

Administer Child development assessments (ASQ-3 / ASQ-SE) to children ages 0-5 years of age.

Responsible for engaging parents in the "Kindergarten Readiness / Literacy" activities and initiatives.

Coordinate with local partners (ex. Library, schools) parent / child activities and events.

Participate in Early Childhood Education initiatives.

Assist with community events and capacity building workshops.

Teach and overseas the Summer Reading Program for parents of children in grades K-2 with a focus on strategies to increase at home reading.

Enter documentation from ASQ-3 into the Healthy Beginnings database.

Attend required meetings and training.

Collaborate and participate with agency staff at special events provided by the organization.

Perform all other duties, as assigned.

This position reports directly to BRIDGES at Lake Worth West Site Director. The staff in this position will also assist in fulfilling our mission to impact families through support and resources that empower them to thrive and prosper, leading the way for others to accomplish the same.
