Job description

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Specialty Coder to join our healthcare team. The Specialty Coder Sr will be responsible for accurately coding complex medical procedures and diagnoses, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines, and supporting revenue cycle integrity. This role requires advanced knowledge of specialty-specific coding practices and the ability to mentor junior coders. Key Responsibilities Rev iew and assign accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services in specialty areas.Ensure compliance with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and billing teams to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies.Conduct audits and quality checks to maintain coding accuracy and compliance.Provide guidance and training to junior coders and assist with complex cases.Stay current with industry regulations, payer requirements, and coding updates.Support revenue cycle processes by minimizing denials and optimizing reimbursement. Required Qualifications H igh school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in health information management or related field preferred.Minimum of 3–5 years of professional coding experience in specialty areas (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, oncology).Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills . Preferred Qualifications (if any) Prior experience in a senior or lead coding role.Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.Experience conducting coding audits and providing staff training. Certifications (if any) Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent required.Specialty-specific coding certifications (e.g., COC, CIC) preferred.
