Overview
GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT I - 37011004 with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) provides administrative support within the South District, Fort Myers. The role supports the Permitting Program, the Compliance Assistance Program (CAP), and Business Planning activities, applying continuous improvement to reduce waste and improve processes to add value for customers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct organizational studies and evaluations on office procedures; provide technical assistance and develop procedures to improve efficiency within the South District's BPA team.
- Provide full performance-level administrative support for the South District's Permitting Program and CAP; apply continuous improvement principles to reduce waste and improve processes and services.
- Provide administrative support for the Permitting Program, including workload assignment, weekly reporting, processing permit applications and correspondence, maintaining electronic files, responding to public inquiries, and coordinating activities with BPA and staff to promote workflow efficiency.
- Provide administrative support for CAP activities : manage complaint tracking, monitor compliance reports, update databases and e-files, assist with MORs and DMRs, prepare enforcement documents, train staff on CAP systems, and coordinate CAP activities with BPA team and staff.
- Support Business Planning activities : assist with document handling, data updates, public records requests, and identify process improvements; apply LEAN and total quality management principles.
- Assist with Cash Receiving Application responsibilities, ensuring timely and accurate revenue processing in line with policy.
Working Hours
Daily from Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m.; total 40 hours per week. Not eligible for teleworking.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of administration and business management concepts and analytical techniques.Ability to understand and apply regulations, policies and procedures for office programs.Ability to organize, analyze data and ensure proper completion of work following procedures.Problem-solving skills and ability to propose process improvements within established parameters.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, OneDrive, PowerPoint).Strong written and verbal communication; ability to prepare correspondence using standard business formats.Ability to maintain accurate e-files and databases; manage time and multi-task across priorities; work independently or in a team; interact professionally with the public.Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.Minimum Qualifications
At least 2 years of verifiable related experience in administrative support or related field. Post-secondary degrees in communications, public administration, or sciences may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. A credential evaluation for foreign degrees must be submitted.Valid Driver License; travel is required, including overnight stays.Position Of Special Trust
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust; successful completion of a background screening is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the Department's Permitting and CAP database systems and processes.Knowledge of writing, reviewing and enforcing standard operating procedures.Knowledge of Continuous Process Improvement and LEAN methodology.Knowledge of Oculus and Oracle systems.Pay
$3,714.85 per month / $44,578.20 per year.
