Responsibilities Work in the Pediatric Acute unit of a hospital with shared beds between general pediatrics and hematology / oncology Medical / surgical pediatric patient population, including diagnoses such as hyperbilirubinemia, neuro, diabetes, failure to thrive, cystic fibrosis, COVID, and orthopedic cases Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4 EMR system used is Epic 12-hour shifts are available for days (0700-1930) or nights (1900-0730) Every other weekend is required, with dayshift weekends on Saturday / Sunday and nightshift weekends on Friday / Saturday Holiday coverage is expected unless otherwise discussed during the interview Floating may be required to other pediatric units and mom / baby, but not to ICU (unless experienced) or to care for chemo patients Monitor tech available for telemetry patients; RNs are not required to read their own strips Unit has 22 pediatric beds and 10 pediatric hematology / oncology beds with potential for expansion based on census Charge RN, Pediatric crisis RN, and administrative supervisor are available 24 / 7 Patient care techs assist at a 1 : 8-10 ratio Solid color or pediatric-appropriate pattern scrub tops required; solid color pants must not be revealing; jackets / long sleeves permitted under scrub tops Two-shift unit-specific orientation provided, with opportunity for extension if approved Negative drug screen required for all panels First time travelers will be considered Local pay rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility Requirements Active IL RN license or confirmation that application is in process At least 2 years of recent pediatric nursing experience Current BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) certifications Familiarity with Epic charting system preferred Ability to handle respiratory equipment such as heated high flow and Bipap per specified parameters Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-616212.
