Responsibilities Position is in the Operating Room of a hospital setting Handles pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations Performs vascular, orthopedic, and robotic procedures, as well as a wide range of general, gynecological, neurological, urologic, trauma, plastics, thoracic, endoscopic, and podiatry surgeries Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours per week (7 : 00 AM – 7 : 30 PM) Weekend shifts required, typically 1–2 weekends per month based on patient volume No mandatory on-call requirement Uses Omnicell for medication management and Epic for charting RTO (requested time off) limited to 5 days or less, with no RTO allowed in the first 2 weeks of assignment Past NYU permanent staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers Parking provided at no cost in the assigned employee garage Must be reliable and committed as excessive time off requests will not be accommodated Assigned to a multidisciplinary and collaborative perioperative environment Only one time-off request permitted for the duration of the contract Requirements Active NY RN license required at the time of consideration Current BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the operating room Proficiency in vascular, orthopedic, and robotic surgery cases required Community hospital and Trauma Level 2 experience required Trauma Level 1 and teaching hospital experience preferred Epic documentation experience preferred First-time travelers must have at least 5 years of OR experience COVID vaccination required Two managerial professional references required (charge RN not acceptable) Hard copy of license or certification must be provided as directed SSN and DOB required for consideration EKG testing required for certain units Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-632199.
