Bridge Crew Laborer / Operator
Duties include the construction and repair of bridges, box culverts, and low-water crossings and other related issues such as drainage, drift, and traffic control. Must be able to operate all types of light equipment.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties will be assigned :
Must have a current Class C drivers license and be able to drive a pickup truck at start of employment. Uses hand tools such as hammer, shovel, rake, chain saw, or other tools used to maintain right-of-way and bridges. Must be available for call out.

Education and / or experience : High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language skills : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small groups.
Mathematical skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning ability : Ability to apply commonsense understanding to instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and carry out duties in the safest and most efficient manner. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, licenses, registrations : Must have current Class C drivers license and be able to obtain a minimum of a Class B CDL (which is required to move to an Operator II) or preferably a Class A CDL with a Tanker Endorsement (which is required to move to an Operator III) within 12 months. Must be willing to attend training classes as required.
Other skills and abilities : Must be familiar with current road construction and maintenance practices. Must be able to talk with the public and discuss their concerns in a professional manner.
