Job description

Title : Staff Power Electrical Engineer

Location : San Francisco Bay Area – onsite 5 days a week

Duration : Full Time

Pay Range : $160,000.00 / yr – $200,000.00 / yr

Job Description

Own the development of a spacecraft solar-battery charging system from clean sheet to flight.

Develop and implement PCBA requirements, use‑cases, and system integration.

Responsibilities

  • Schematic capture and PCB layout for solar power, voltage regulation, load management, fault protection, power transmission, telemetry, and other circuits using Altium Designer.
  • Circuit analysis including power related, SWaP, tolerance, and reliability related.
  • PCBA design verification testing, qualification testing, and system integration testing.
  • Lead design reviews for inter-disciplinary audiences.
  • Manufacturing and flight support as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in power electronics design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and testing.
  • Expertise in solar power, voltage regulation, load management, fault protection, power transmission, analog instrumentation, and digital circuits.
  • Skilled at schematic capture and layout of complex PCBAs.
  • Skilled at performing circuit analyses in SPICE and Excel.
  • Proficiency with basic electronic lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, soldering iron, etc.
  • Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment.
  • Nice‑To‑Have Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience designing for space environments including radiation impacts and mitigation.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer.
  • Experience designing rigid‑flex PCBs and general electro‑mechanical design familiarity.
  • Scripting skills in Python, Tcl, etc.
