Engineering Systems Specialist

Location : Tucson, AZ (Onsite)

Duration : 6 months (possible extension)

Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Systems Specialist to support system design, integration, and testing activities within a laboratory engineering environment. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to apply hands-on problem-solving and technical skills to real-world system development and validation. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support new product and process development, troubleshoot equipment issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and testing of engineering systems and subsystems.
  • Perform system integration and reliability testing , analyzing results to ensure performance meets specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews , contribute ideas for process and product improvements, and support documentation updates.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues, determining root causes, and proposing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to assess system interactions and manufacturing readiness.
  • Document and present results, maintaining detailed technical records and promoting a “Quality First Time” mindset.
  • Contribute to technical team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of basic and specialized engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience or coursework in system integration and design testing.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to present findings clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.

  • Hands-on experience working with equipment or instrumentation in a lab or test environment.
  • Exposure to manufacturing or product development environments.
  • Familiarity with searching and applying technical literature.
