About the Department

The North Carolina State University Feed Mill Educational Unit (FMEU) supports the extension, research, and teaching efforts of multiple academic departments and animal research and teaching units housed within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The FMEU focuses on teaching, developing, and implementing new technology associated with feed milling and animal agriculture in North Carolina.

Essential Job Duties

The Research Technician will be responsible for manufacturing feed in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) established at the Feed Mill Education Unit (FMEU). This role involves operating the computerized automation system to produce both maintenance and research feeds for NC State and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

• Feed Manufacturing : Operate and assist with the operation of various feed manufacturing and support equipment.
• Equipment Maintenance : Help maintain and repair equipment, ensuring all machinery is in good working order.
• Quality Assurance : Perform quality checks on feed and ingredients to ensure compliance with established standards.
• Housekeeping & Documentation : Carry out housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Collect and complete operational documentation in line with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
• Regulatory Compliance : Ensure adherence to all University, local, state, and federal regulations and policies.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant production of feed at the FMEU.

Other Responsibilities

Employee will work with the manager to operate the facility, including the direction of student employees, coordination of daily activities, and working with external vendors.

A valid driver's license is required for travel. NC driver's license required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
