Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer with at least one year of cardiac experience and current registration in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS).

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital setting within the Echo and Cardiac Sonography unit
  • Adult and geriatric patient population with occasional adolescent and pediatric cases
  • Five 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with variable start times between 7 : 00 AM and 9 : 00 AM
  • Weekend rotation required with shifts from 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM
  • Occasional on-call coverage may be requested
  • Floating to multiple units or different locations within the organization may be required based on staffing needs
  • Exams performed using both stationary and portable equipment
  • Independently perform and record transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms, including dobutamine and treadmill exercise stress tests and carotid duplex studies
  • Communicate preliminary impressions to reading and supervising physicians
  • Serve as a clinical instructor for ultrasound students, residents, and visiting physicians
  • May participate in clinical research and act as a clinical resource throughout the system
  • Training / orientation typically lasts one week and is department-specific
  • Scrub or dress code information will be provided by the department
  • Holiday shifts may be required
  • First-time travelers may be considered
  • No references required for consideration
  • Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of cardiac sonography experience required
  • Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS)
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
  • Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program or Associate Degree in Biological Sciences, Radiology, Ultrasound, or relevant health sciences field
  • License required if applicable
  • Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Pass / Fail telemetry exam required prior to start, with strict passing criteria
  • Active telemetry competency required
