Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for sustaining engineering activities related to existing electrical and electro-mechanical products. This includes analog and digital circuit analysis, embedded firmware support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The role focuses on maintaining product performance, supporting manufacturing, addressing component obsolescence, and ensuring ongoing compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently to resolve technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain existing electrical designs and embedded firmware
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in production and fielded products
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product failures
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, yield improvement, and component replacement initiatives
  • Ensure continued compliance with regulatory standards such as UL, CE, and RoHS
  • Serve as a technical liaison with suppliers and external partners for sustaining activities
  • Support calibration, final test, and other production-related processes
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Participate in root cause analysis, failure analysis, and corrective action implementation

Functional Skills

  • Strong background in analog and digital circuit design, including op-amps, A / D converters, microcontrollers, EMC filtering transformers, etc.
  • Proficient in EDA tools for schematic capture and circuit simulation
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and validation testing (UL, CE, RoHS)
  • Skilled in documentation and change control processes
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Firmware development and debugging in C and / or Assembly (Microchip preferred)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production test systems
  • Knowledge of DFMEA, validation planning, and root cause methodologies
  • Education And Experience

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in sustaining or product support engineering
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Experience with sensor-based or instrument-related electronics is a plus
  • Familiarity with Microchip PIC18 / PIC24 / PIC32 microcontrollers preferred
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies such as UL, CSA, etc.
  • US Citizenship preferred
