Summary
The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing assigned relationships in the portfolio, minimizing risk, validating risk ratings, maximizing cross‑selling opportunities, and ensuring timely administration of loan issues such as maturing lines of credit, receipt of financial statements, and loan documentation follow‑up.
Essential Functions
- Ongoing management of customer relationships in the portfolio.
- Analyze, recommend, process, and obtain approvals for borrower requests.
- Facilitate tracking and timely renewal of loans and lines of credit, notifying customers of impending maturity dates and obtaining required financial information.
- Make recommendations on loan structure, pricing, and appropriate risk ratings based on policies and risk definitions.
- Maintain current portfolio risk ratings by conducting annual relationship reviews and ensuring compliance with covenant requirements.
- Communicate directly with borrowers, their accountants and attorneys to obtain necessary information for underwriting.
- Coordinate with Relationship Managers to convey final recommendations for credit approval write‑ups.
- Assist with problem credit resolution in collaboration with legal counsel.
- Research industry trends that may impact borrower creditworthiness and incorporate findings into real‑time risk assessments.
- Participate in customer and prospect calls with Relationship Managers and maintain regular contact with existing customers.
- Prioritize tasks for less experienced credit analysts and collaborate with loan servicing staff for efficient portfolio administration.
- Maximize cross‑sell opportunities to the existing customer base via referrals to other bank areas such as Cash Management or Investment Services.
Accountabilities
Review, document, and recommend actions for borrower requests.Provide assistance to Relationship Managers as the key contact for existing customers to deliver high‑quality service.Research and Analysis
Conduct comprehensive research and investigate all available credit information sources to ensure accuracy.Perform extensive narrative analyses of financial information.Act as liaison between Relationship Managers and loan servicers on operational / documentation issues.Assist in underwriting and structuring loan transactions and perform annual reviews for the CRE portfolio.Independent Judgment
Apply prudent independent judgment to assess risk in new transactions and the existing portfolio.Lead Capacity
Provide guidance to less experienced Credit Analysts and Loan Servicers on presentation of financial data and collateral / documentation management.Minimum Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance (preferred) or equivalent experience.3+ years of analytical / underwriting experience.Thorough knowledge of loan policies, financial statement analysis, and best practices in risk assessment.Excellent written and oral communication skills and a high proficiency in Word and Excel.Physical Requirements

Compensation
Salary : $90,000 – $120,000.
