Formal Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and driven Water Quality Engineer to lead and support projects focused on the production, treatment, recovery, and sustainable reuse of water. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and improvement of water systems, ensuring they meet regulatory compliance, environmental standards, and operational efficiency goals. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to create innovative water solutions in car wash environments. This engineer will lead the design and refinement of two major systems including a reverse osmosis production system as well as a water reclamation system.
Key Responsibilities
- Draw from significant experience, talent, and critical thought to work collaboratively with leadership, stakeholders, and other engineers to define problems and engineer solutions using sophisticated data-driven methods and sound engineering principles.
- Employ excellent verbal and written communication skills to conduct research, define and run tests, and create high-quality engineering documentation.
- Show high awareness, skills, and be eager to learn cross-discipline technologies including industrial controls, electrical wiring, and programming.
- Be eager to turn wrenches, cut metal, and get your hands dirty as part of prototyping, installation, and testing of equipment.
- Design products optimized for manufacturability using in-house laser cutting and fabrication.
- Contribute wisdom and growth-oriented mindset to lead and mentor fellow engineers.
- Solve complex engineering problems during design, manufacturing, or testing phases. Troubleshoot and make quick decisions to keep projects on track.
- Manage planning, scheduling, and execution of projects.
- Meet with operations, maintenance, manufacturing, supply chain, and product teams to plan and execute projects.
- Oversee and directly work on development of prototypes to test and validate designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and evaluate prototypes, making necessary modifications based on test results.
- Establish and implement quality control processes to ensure manufactured products meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Interact and program industrial control systems.
- Create detailed technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes and project progress.
- Stay up to date with advancements in water quality engineering technology and techniques. Seek opportunities to innovate and improve existing designs and processes.
- Perform work independently.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering (or similar) and 6+ years of experience.3+ years of experience in water or wastewater engineering, with focus on treatment or reclamation.Strong knowledge of water treatment technologies (e.g., membrane filtration, UV disinfection, biological treatment).Familiarity with CAD, GIS, and hydraulic modeling software.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Good knowledge of at least one high-level programming language.Technical expertise.Able to debug complex, distributed systems.Problem-solving skills.Detail-oriented.Ability to work as part of a team and good interpersonal skills.Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.Willing to travel 15% of time.Equal Opportunity Employer
