Overview
Be among the first 25 applicants for the Design Engineer II position at Wacker Neuson America Corporation in Menomonee Falls, WI. 40 hrs. / wk. Duties include conceptualizing product designs, analyzing / selecting materials and processes, performing engineering calculations and coordination, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), component and machine cost analysis, research of industry and government standards (CE, UL, etc.), creating models and drawings in CAD, and applying project management, FEA, hydraulics, and electrical skills to project work. Responsibilities also include supporting the creation of machine documentation, producing drawings, performing bolted joint design, tolerance stack-up, geometric tolerancing, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), hazard analysis, presenting project updates to the executive team, and compiling information for Engineering Change Notices and Bills of Materials. Additional tasks involve providing production support to address design and manufacturing issues, improving machine warranty rates with QA and Product Support, coordinating with R&D on test plans, and communicating with cross-functional departments and suppliers to meet timeline, cost, performance, quality, and safety goals. With R&D, develop test plans to evaluate products and determine engineering actions to address issues. May speak at technical forums to share product knowledge and application information.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize product designs & analyze / select materials & processes for products.
- Perform engineering calculations & coordinate aspects of projects.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and component / machine cost analysis.
- Research industry & government standards (CE, UL, etc.).
- Create models & drawings in CAD.
- Utilize project management, FEA, hydraulics, & electrical skills on projects.
- Research manufacturing standards for components, subassemblies, & machines.
- Support creation of machine documentation (manuals, labels, literature).
- Produce drawings, perform bolted joint design, tolerance stack-up, geometric tolerancing, FMEA, & hazard analysis.
- Create & present project updates for executive team.
- Compile information for Engineering Change Notices and maintain Bills of Materials.
- Provide production support to address design & manufacturing issues via quality notifications & deviations.
- Work with Product Support & QA to improve machine warranty rates and resolve customer issues.
- Serve as engineering contact for specific machine or line in manufacturing products.
- With R&D, create test plans to evaluate product to ensure specs are met; evaluate results & coordinate actions to address issues.
- May speak at technical forums to provide product knowledge & application information.
- Work with cross-functional departments & suppliers to ensure projects meet timeline, cost, performance, quality, & safety.
- May serve as technical leader for small to mid-sized projects.
Qualifications
MIN REQ : Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.3 years of experience in the offered job family.SPECIAL REQ : 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.SPECIAL REQ : 3 years of experience with manufacturing environment; computer skills including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.1 year of experience in 2D & 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD).Proficiency with Word, Excel & PowerPoint.Application
