Job Description

About This Role

You’re a team-first clinician who loves making care feel seamless. In this center-based role, you’ll deliver hands-on support that keeps our PACE participants safe, seen, and supported—think vitals, labs, phlebotomy, EKGs, immunizations, wound-care support, and more within your scope. You’ll collaborate closely with our Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), surface changes in participant status, and document meticulously in the EMR to ensure every next step is clear and coordinated.

What Does Success Look Like As Our Medical Assistant

  • Own the first impression : Perform participant intake, fulfill orders, and manage clinic flow for a smooth, efficient experience.
  • Team up to go further : Collaborate with clinic teammates and the IDT to elevate care and the participant experience.
  • Start strong, every visit : Room participants promptly and capture routine vitals and required screenings.
  • Turn data into care : Perform labs and testing, then ensure participants get results and next-step plans.
  • Keep the engine humming : Track referrals, process authorizations, clean / stock rooms, and maintain an organized clinic.
  • Be readiness-ready : Assist the Clinic Supervisor with inventory, equipment, and supply management.
  • Safety, logged : Maintain routine clinic logs and confirm equipment works as intended.
  • Prep like a pro : Ready participants for exams and support immunization prep / administration per guidelines.
  • Connect the dots : Coordinate follow-ups, external appointments, and annual / bi-annual assessments for continuity of care.
  • Document with precision : Record interactions, assessments, and care plans in the EMR (e.g., PACElogic).
  • Teach to empower : Reinforce care instructions, preventive health tips, and chronic disease management education.
  • Guard what matters : Follow HIPAA to the letter to protect privacy—always.
  • Show up polished : Maintain a neat, professional appearance consistent with dress code / uniform policy.
  • Listen like it’s your superpower : Ensure clear, compassionate communication with participants and colleagues.
  • Solve before it stalls : Anticipate issues (equipment, scheduling, etc.) and address them proactively.
  • Keep it compliant : Adhere to PACE, CMS, DHCS, and organizational policies without compromise.
  • Flex with purpose : Adapt to changing needs and schedules with positivity and poise.
  • Pitch in when needed : Take on additional responsibilities to support the clinic and PACE program.

What Does An Ideal Candidate Look Like :

  • Mission in your marrow : A passion for serving high-risk seniors and frail older adults.
  • Collaboration fluency : Strong coordination and communication across an interdisciplinary team.
  • Credentials that count : Active California Medical Assistant license.
  • Stick-skill certified : Phlebotomy certification.
  • Foundation set : High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience that shows : 2+ years as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting (PACE / geriatric experience preferred).
  • Ready for the moments that matter : Current CPR and First Aid (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
  • Independent and in-sync : Comfortable working autonomously while thriving in a team environment.
  • Positivity under pressure : A can-do attitude centered on excellent participant care.
  • Change-resilient : Adaptable to schedule shifts and evolving participant needs.
  • Dignity first : Professionalism, empathy, and respect for every participant, every time.
  • Solution seeker : Bring ideas, not just issues—help us improve daily.
  • Dependably dependable : Reliable and punctual for every scheduled shift.
  • Always leveling up : Committed to learning, integrity, and accountability.
  • Calm in the storm : Composed, patient, and supportive, even in challenging moments.
  • The Fine Print :

  • Set your rhythm : Monday–Friday, 8 : 00 a.m.–5 : 00 p.m.
  • Your home base : 100% onsite at our PACE Center—where the care happens.
  • Your coach & partner : RN Clinic Supervisor.
  • What Does The Physical Requirements Look Like

  • On your feet and on the move : Expect frequent walking between exam rooms, lab areas, and team spaces, plus regular standing during participant care.
  • Sit when the work calls for it : Periods of seated computer work for documentation, scheduling, and care coordination.
  • Hands-on, safely : Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of supplies / equipment up to 25 lbs ; safe body mechanics and assistive devices used as needed.
  • Clinic-paced and people-forward : Lots of talking with participants, families, and teammates; clear, professional communication is essential.
  • Tech confident : Independently use computers, EMR, phones, and basic medical devices (e.g., BP cuffs, pulse oximeters, EKG).
  • Fine-motor ready : Frequent hand use for phlebotomy, immunizations, specimen handling, and point-of-care testing.
  • Infection prevention first : Routine hand hygiene, PPE use (masks, gloves, gowns / eye protection as needed), and adherence to isolation and cleaning protocols.
  • Everyday clinic conditions : Moderate noise, bright / fluorescent lighting, temperature-controlled environment, and occasional exposure to disinfectants / cleaning agents.
  • Safe participant support : Occasional repositioning / assisting participants with transfers using proper techniques and available equipment.
  • Alert and adaptable : Work amid interruptions and shifting priorities while maintaining focus, accuracy, and a calm, professional demeanor.
  • Senses engaged : Adequate vision, hearing, and speech to read labels, hear alarms, and communicate clearly in a busy clinic.
  • Accessibility matters : Reasonable accommodations available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
