Job description

Job Description : Position Summary :

The Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an 18-month program designed for working adults. The ABA Program mission is to prepare students to be professionally competent, compassionate, ethical practitioners of applied behavior analysis who work with individuals diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Adjunct Faculty are scholars and professionals, who teach in their area(s) of specialization and expertise. The primary affiliation of adjunct faculty is not with the university.

We are hiring adjunct professors to design the following courses :

Specific Courses :

Winter Term (Jan 13, 2025 - May 4, 2025)

ABA60040 : Behavioral Skill Assessments & Evidence-Based Instruction

Description : This course introduces common behavior analytic skill assessments and instructional strategies for individuals with disabilities. Students will learn how to assess individuals' areas of strength and needs, and deliver evidence-based instructional strategies based on assessment results and other considerations. Students will gain competence in applying evidence-based instructional strategies to the development of communication, adaptive, academic, leisure, social, and vocational skills.

ABA60050 : Functional Behavior Assessments & Interventions for Safety-Related Behaviors

Description : This course provides information about functional behavior assessment and intervention strategies to reduce behaviors related to safety (e.g., aggression, self-harm, elopement) and increase positive behavioral repertoires. Students will gain competence in selecting, applying, and recommending interventions that are functionally equivalent to behaviors of concern across multiple settings.

March term (March 9, 2026-May 10, 2026)

ABA60020 : Behavior Measurement and Research Methods in Applied Behavior Analysis

Description : In this course students will learn about basic behavior measurement and research methodologies used inapplied behavior analysis with an emphasis on single-case research designs. Students will develop competence inmeasurement, graphic representation, and data-based decision making. They will learn about single case researchdesigns (e.g., multiple baseline, ABAB) by analyzing and critiquing data from SCRD studies. The course will place a strongemphasis on socially valid research and the protection of human subjects.

ABA60030 : Ethics & Professionalism in Applied Behavior Analysis

Description : This course covers the ethical and professional practice of applied behavior analysis. Students will learnabout the ethical principles and professional codes upheld in the Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts. They will learn howto use these ethical principles, codes, and other cultural, legal, and professional considerations to guide their ethicaldecision making. The course will also provide opportunities for students to practice engaging in difficult, but common,professional conversations.

May Term (May 4, 2026-July 5, 2026)

ABA60000 : Theory & Philosophy of Behavior Analysis

Description : This course examines the historical, theoretical, and philosophical foundations of behaviorism and behavior analysis. Students will develop a conceptual understanding of key theories used to explain human behavior, withemphasis on the principles underlying behavior analytic practice. The course also provides an overview of the historicalevolution of behavior analysis and its impact on contemporary applications.

ABA60010 : Basic Principles of Behavior

Description : This course explores basic principles of behavior. Students will gain competence in using behavior analyticterminology and an understanding of how these principles can be applied to reduce unsafe behaviors, promote skillacquisition, foster self-determination, and improve quality of life within diverse cultural contexts.

ABA60040 : Behavioral Skill Assessments & Evidence-Based Instruction

Starting Pay : $39 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Doctoral or Master degree in Psychology, Special Education, ABA, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience : Appropriate experience in the areas(s) of specialization and expertise. At least three (3) years of experience as a School Psychologist. Educational Psychologist through the BBS (LEP), is preferred.

Skills :

  • Proficient computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • The ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
  • The ability to explain complex requirements in clear and concise terms.
  • The ability to be flexible with workflow to meet the needs of the department and students and to manage multiple tasks per required deadlines.
  • The drive to encourage, direct, hold accountable and guide candidates toward task completion.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work as an effective team member and develop trusting relationships with students and Alliant employees, as well as the Registrar's Office and various academic departments.
  • Culturally humble and ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse people.
  • Highly motivated, focused and results oriented.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal interactions, and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Collaboration and partnering with other university stakeholders to support candidate success.
  • Ability to make administrative / procedural decisions and judgments.

Duties & Responsibilities : (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions).

  • Design graduate-level ABA courses that align with program learning outcomes and the BACB 6th Edition Test Outline Content.
  • Develop syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments that reflect adult learning principles and best online teaching practices.
  • Create asynchronous learning content.
  • Collaboration with the Program Director, university instructional designers, and other faculty to ensure high quality, consistent course content.
  • Ensure all course content upholds professional and ethical requirements of the behavior analytic community.
  • Supervisory Responsibility :

    Direct Reports : None.

    Indirect Reports : None.

    Contact Responsibility :

    Internal : Interacts with Program Director to receive support and guidance throughout the instructional term. Main communication is between Adjunct Faculty and currently enrolled candidates.

    External : None.

    Work Environment :

    This is a fully remote position, with faculty choosing their own environment to teach in.

    Physical Requirements :
