Civil Engineer – Public Infrastructure

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Civil Engineer to manage and support the planning, design, and implementation of public infrastructure and capital projects. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of infrastructure projects related to transportation, utilities, stormwater, and wastewater management. The position operates under the general guidance of the Director of Infrastructure and Public Projects .

Key Responsibilities :

Lead and manage engineering projects from initiation to completion, serving as a project manager.

Participate in consultant selection, prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and oversee consultant contracts.

Review and approve designs for civil infrastructure projects, including transportation and utility systems.

Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external project stakeholders.

Conduct traffic investigations and studies, including traffic warrants and analyses.

Assist in preparing budgets for operational and capital needs, ensuring adherence to budget goals.

Prepare reports, correspondence, and technical studies as required.

Respond to project inquiries and provide information to stakeholders, ensuring timely issue resolution.

Education and Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or municipal engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

Minimum of four years of experience in construction and / or civil engineering.

Experience in inspecting construction work for compliance with codes and specifications.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and related software.

Strong knowledge of public works procurement and construction practices.

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or eligibility for certification within six months is preferred.

Skills and Abilities :

Ability to develop, review, and modify civil engineering plans and specifications.

Familiarity with federal, state, and local engineering laws and regulations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment.

Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships across multiple departments.

Requirements :

Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

Pre-employment drug screening and background check required.

Compensation :

$86,000 + comprehensive benefits package

Location : Northern Indiana (onsite)
