Department Overview
PG&E's Local Government Affairs team leads the Company's government relations activities and strategies in the cities and counties we serve, helping to shape complex public policy debates that support our customers and local communities, invest in climate resiliency and the stability of the grid, and assure the long-term success of the company. Position Summary
Develop and maintain a strong governmental, political and community network in the cities of Colma, Hillsborough, Belmont, San Carlos, Foster City and Woodside. Also support developing and maintaining a strong community network in San Francisco. The candidate will have substantial external contact responsibility and should be experienced in building agreements and partnerships, especially with coalitions of diverse interests. The candidate must also have excellent written and verbal, and public presentation skills and the ability to produce results working with or leading a cross-functional team. The ideal candidate must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic, ambiguous, and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be a poised public speaker with previous public testimony experience and political engagement experience.
Responsibilities :
Government Relations :
- Develop and maintain strong governmental, political and community network. Serve as a primary political contact for assigned elected officials, departments and agencies. Monitor activities of special districts that impact PG&E.
- Manage issues that arise before local political bodies in the region, coordinating company analysis and response and representing the company's position in those forums.
- Maintain high level of knowledge on local political climate, and PG&E policy issues. Provide political and governmental expertise to assigned area.
- Act as liaison to top government staff and local elected officials on PG&E related issues. Effectively respond to escalated customer issues referred by local elected officials.
Community Relations :
Build and develop partnerships with community organizations that support and enhance PG&E programs / services, assist customers and provide support for company priorities.Lead local charitable contribution strategy in assigned area. Consult with internal partners on implementing community engagement strategies to best position the Company.Shape and Support PG&E's Operational Priorities :
Manage / support company programs, projects and initiatives with public affairs elements. Prepare and implement political and community strategies, assess financial impacts to the company and develop written and verbal communications.Emergency Response / Rebuild Efforts :
This position will have a role in the company's on-call rotation, which requires being on-call 25% of the time as the liaison between the company and city leadership within the area during major outages, storms and emergencies. On call time requires after hours and weekend work.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (BA / BS) degree or equivalent experienceMinimum of 4-years' experience working for an elected official, public or non-profit agency or as a political consultant or other relevant experienceValid California driver's licenseDesired
