Urgent Care Physician Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Urgent Care team. The NP/PA works in collaboration with a supervising physician to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with acute and urgent medical needs. Responsibilities include performing physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications or therapies. This position plays a vital role in supporting patient care continuity and enhancing access in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts
• Full-time = 3 shifts per week
• Every third weekend required

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct clinical care for patients presenting with urgent or acute conditions.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, physical examinations, and medical histories.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests such as lab work and imaging.
• Formulate and initiate treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies.
• Collaborate with supervising physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Counsel patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and preventive care.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain clinical competencies.
• Ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care within the urgent care setting.

Job Requirements

Education:

• Nurse Practitioner: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program

Experience:

• Required: No prior experience necessary
• Preferred: 1 2 years of experience in urgent car or emergency medicine

Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Proficient with computers and electronic medical records (EMR)

Licensure/Certification:

• Nurse Practitioner: Current MO NP license required
• Physician Assistant: Current MO PA license required
• BLS/ACLS/PALS certification
