RNDC is looking for an innovative and energetic fleet mechanic to join our amazing RNDC team. The fleet mechanic conducts preventive maintenance activities on fleet of up to 50 trucks to maximize uptime and reduce maintenance cost. They will also provide repair and maintenance as needed.
In this role, you will :
Responsible for the upkeep and preventative maintenance of the local fleet, following agreed upon maintenance schedules to ensure longevity of the asset, to include inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
Adjust and realign brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
Troubleshoot and quickly resolve problems identified by drivers during pre and post trip inspections, to ensure maximum uptime.
Operate within the budgetary guidelines of the department.
Maintain and order necessary parts for equipment to expedite repairs as needed. Conduct yearly FHWA safety inspections, and ensure all vehicles are DOT-compliant.
Enforce total tire management program and other company-wide fleet maintenance programs. Provide guidance to management regarding outsourcing of repairs as well as end of life conversations regarding assets.
Maintain the vehicle repair and maintenance records in on-line tracking software. Adhere to safety regulations.
What you bring to RNDC :
Strong mechanical aptitude. Heavy truck mechanic experience - ideally class 6, 7, 8. High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or maintenance certification program; 2-3 years previous maintenance or related experience; or equivalent education and experience. Must regularly lift and / or move up to 60 pounds
