American Traveler seeks a Med / Surg RN with at least two years of recent inpatient experience for a night shift position on a Medical Surgical-Oncology unit.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical unit with primarily Med / Surg patients and oncology casesNight shifts (4x12 hours, 18 : 45–07 : 15)Patient population includes general medical-surgical and oncology diagnoses, with administration of chemotherapy / biotherapyTarget nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 6, with ratios potentially higher during census surgesFloating required to similar units, inpatient holding in the ED, and alternate inpatient medical care locationsWeekend work required every other weekendCall required only if called off on a scheduled shiftExpected to participate in Storm / Hurricane Teams and may be assigned during catastrophic eventsUnit uses EPIC for documentation and PYXIS for medication managementResponsible for administering chemotherapy / biotherapy via IV, PO, or injectionProvide care for a range of complex medical and oncology conditions, including AKI, sepsis, cancer, malignant neoplasms, diabetic foot ulcers, and moreMay be required to attend monthly staff meetingsUp to 24 hours (2 shifts) of unit orientation provided at startRequired to wear navy blue and white scrubsMust be willing and able to float based on skills and census without restrictionsFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyNo RTO allowed during the first week of assignment; up to 7 days of RTO permitted excluding holidaysMust work 2 out of 3 major holidays during assignmentCandidate's permanent address under 50 miles from facility will be offered at a lower local rateTravel pairs allowed if assigned to different units\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or Compact RN license required at time of start (pending accepted at submission)Minimum two years of recent inpatient Med / Surg experience requiredBLS certification requiredExperience with colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, heparin and insulin therapy, surgical drains, chest tubes, non-invasive airway management, wound care, and wound vacMust pass EKG testing before startEpic charting experience requiredPreferred : CPI and OCN certifications, charge nurse experienceNo previous employment as PERM, PRN, or EP staff with named health system within the last 12 monthsNot eligible if currently working as travel Per Diem at this health systemReferences and licensing documentation required at time of start\n Benefits\n
