As a Server at 54 Mint , your primary responsibility is to deliver thoughtful, wine-driven hospitality while upholding our standards of service, teamwork, and respect. We seek experienced, wine-focused servers and aspiring sommeliers who are eager to grow, deepen their wine knowledge, and contribute to a supportive, high-performing team.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Server is responsible for providing warm, polished, and attentive service to all guests, with a strong emphasis on Italian wine and beverage knowledge. This role requires active engagement with guests, consistent execution of steps of service, confident wine guidance, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, intimate dining environment. Servers are expected to maintain a clean and organized workspace and uphold all company policies, health and safety standards, and hospitality expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Guest Experience
Provide friendly, professional, and attentive service throughout the dining experience.
Create a welcoming environment that reflects 54 Mint’s Roman hospitality and neighborhood ethos.
Build rapport with guests and cultivate returning regulars.
Consistently follow 54 Mint’s steps of service to ensure a refined and predictable experience.
Monitor guest satisfaction and involve Management promptly when needed.
Wine & Product Knowledge
Maintain thorough knowledge of the food menu, daily specials, cocktails, and Italian wine program.
Confidently guide guests through wine-by-the-glass and bottle selections.
Make thoughtful food and wine pairing recommendations tailored to guest preferences.
Accurately communicate ingredients, allergens, and dietary considerations.
Be able to describe preparation methods, flavor profiles, and regional wine characteristics.
Accountability & Operations
Arrive on time, in proper uniform, prepared to work in accordance with attendance standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary service environment at all times.
Complete all assigned opening, running, and closing side work.
Communicate 86’d items, guest feedback, and service concerns clearly to Management.
Follow all company policies, Employee Handbook guidelines, and House Rules.
Comply with all California and San Francisco health, safety, and alcohol service regulations.
Uphold 54 Mint’s brand standards and professionalism on every shift.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Ability to bend, reach, carry trays, and move safely in a fast-paced environment.
