Position Overview :

We're seeking an experienced and driven Automotive Assistant Controller to oversee the financial operations of multiple dealership locations. This key leadership role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, and partners closely with executive and dealership leadership to drive operational and financial performance. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at process improvement, and has a proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams across multiple rooftops. This role is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and will require occasional travel outside of Colorado.

Compensation : $100,000 – $120,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)

What You'll Do :

Financial Reporting & Consolidation

  • Oversee accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple dealerships.
  • Consolidate store-level data into regional and corporate reports and provide executive summaries to leadership.
  • Review dealership financials for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to GAAP and OEM requirements.

Month-End & Year-End Close

  • Lead and coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes across all locations.
  • Review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure timely reporting and submission of financial statements to corporate and OEM partners.
  • Prepare and manage year-end schedules and audits in collaboration with external auditors.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning

  • Lead the annual budgeting process for each store and consolidate into regional forecasts.
  • Monitor performance versus plan and provide actionable insights to department heads and leadership.
  • Support GMs, Fixed Ops Directors, and Sales leaders with financial data that guides strategic decision-making.
  • Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Oversee dealership cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for daily operations.
  • Manage floorplan accounts, bank relationships, and funding processes to optimize financial performance.
  • Supervise daily cash reconciliations and contract funding to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain strong internal controls and standardized accounting procedures across all locations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and manufacturer financial reporting standards.
  • Operational Finance & Process Improvement

  • Support leadership to streamline accounting and business office processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with leadership to improve financial systems, ERP integrations, and reporting automation.
  • Provide financial insight to drive profitability in each department — Sales, F&I, Service, and Parts.
  • Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals across multiple rooftops.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Crosstrain team members to ensure strong coverage, consistency, and operational resilience.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to align people, processes, and performance goals
  • Who You Are :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven financial leadership experience in the automotive retail industry.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership accounting, GAAP, and OEM statement preparation.
  • Skilled in managing multiple locations, deadlines, and priorities with precision and confidence.
  • Experienced in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis.
  • Proficient in financial systems, ERP software (Dealertrack preferred), and advanced Excel.
