Spring Training Grounds Crew

The City of Peoria Parks and Recreation Department is seeking interested individuals to fill a number of part-time Groundskeeping positions for the 2025 Spring Training Season. Candidates will assist in the preparation of baseball fields and turf maintenance at the Peoria Sports Complex (home to the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres).

Essential functions include:

• Prepares and maintains baseball fields, bullpens and related facilities utilizing a variety of hand and power tools including edgers and weed eaters.
• Assists with turf maintenance including resodding, power washing and power brooming edges.
• Assists with reconditioning of fields including mounds, home plates, base passes, infield edges, replacing bases and base anchors and hauling materials.
• Performs painting of field and foul lines and logos.
• Assists with the application of drying materials and tarp pulling on fields during inclement weather.
• Provides general maintenance which includes raking leaves, cleaning walks and litter control around fields, buildings and grounds.
• Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies as needed.

The ideal candidate is someone who:

• Is interested in learning more about parks and sports field groundskeeping.
• Is interested in a flexible part-time schedule with an estimated 18-30 hours per week.
• Is open to schedules that vary depending on assignments that may include nights and weekends.
• Is a safety conscious, punctual team player with a high work ethic.
• Is comfortable and able to execute essential functions in high traffic, public use areas.

Minimum requirements:

• No minimum requirement for education.
• No previous related experience required.
• Must complete all required City training courses within two months of hire.

Preferred/desirable qualifications:

• Valid Driver's License is preferred.
