The Criminal Investigations Division encompasses all law enforcement and forensic components residing within the Department of Financial Services. This advertisement is for a Bureau of Fire, Arson, & Explosives Investigations detective.

Requirements : High School Diploma or its equivalent. Active Certified Florida Law Enforcement Officer; possess a passing score on the State of Florida Law Enforcement Certification Examination and be eligible to receive the Law Enforcement Certification; or completed the Florida Equivalency of Training and be eligible to receive the Law Enforcement Certification in accordance with Section 943.13, Florida Statutes. Valid Driver's License from the Florida Department of Safety and Motor Vehicles by time of employment. Three or more years of sworn law enforcement experience. A degree from an accredited college or university. Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal and written skills that meet a critical need of the agencys mission. College education can be substituted at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year for a maximum of one year required experience. Note : Correctional Officer and Correction Probational Officer Certifications DO NOT meet requirements of the job description. You must live no more than 50 miles from your assigned duty station. Experience and education requirements must be met at the time of application submission to be considered. This position requires a security background check. Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application. Selection is a three-to-six-month process where the applicants MUST PASS the Physical Abilities Test, Oral and Written Exam, CJSTC background.
LEI-II annual salary is $63,000.00. LEI-I annual salary is $60,000.00. A CAD (Competitive Area Differential) of $4,999.80 will apply to those applying for positions in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following required entry-level knowledge, skills and abilities : Communication, Interpersonal Skills, Training and Proficiency, Knowledge of investigative and surveillance principles and techniques, Ability to work in dangerous and stressful situations.
Brief Description of Duties : Incumbent of position is a member of DFS' Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties in support of disaster relief efforts. Duties require a constituted law enforcement officer subject to be on call 24 / 7. The incumbent is required to bear firearms.
