Strategy Director, E-Commerce
We're seeking an eCommerce Strategy Director to elevate content performance and drive digital shelf success for a major CPG client. In this role you'll be serving as a dedicated strategic partner to drive their brand's digital performance. In the future, this role may transition to a shared bench of eCommerce strategy expertise, supporting multiple clients. Your deep expertise in SEO, content performance, and retailer strategies will aide in translating complex business challenges into tailored, scalable eCommerce solutions that drive conversion, brand affinity, and market leadership.
This leader will bring the right mix of strategic thinking, platform expertise, and content fluency to guide how our client shows up across key retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Targetand how we as an agency can scale our strategic offerings.
This is a remote role with preference to candidates in Chicago or Toronto.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Client Partnership & Strategic Leadership :
- Serve as a strategic partner to client teamsturning business goals into actionable eCommerce content strategies
- Lead digital shelf and SEO-driven content strategy across key retailers and DTC platforms
- Build frameworks that define what "best-in-class" looks like across PDPs and brand storefronts
- Translate data and insights into performance-boosting content strategies and roadmaps
- Lead client presentations and work sessions to align on strategy and measure progress
Content & Platform Expertise :
Guide copy and creative teams with content best practices across Amazon, Walmart, Target, and other retailersAudit content regularly to identify opportunities for optimization or syndicationRecommend content variations and enhancements tailored to platform algorithms, requirements, capabilities and shopper behaviorStay ahead of algorithm changes, retailer updates, and eCommerce trendsPerformance & Optimization :
Partner with insights teams to analyze content health, SEO performance, and retail KPIsMake data-backed recommendations to continuously improve content effectivenessCollaborate with analytics to connect e-commerce results to broader marketing impact / full funnel effectivenessSupport tool evaluation, both internal and external client tools (Helium 10, Jungle Scout, Salsify, Profitero, Stackline, etc.) to improve performance visibility and trackingInternal Growth & Practice Building :
Support the development of reusable tools, templates, and best practicesResponsibility to contribute to business impact and client revenue growthShare thought leadership internally and contribute to client RFPs or case studiesHelp elevate overall eComm IQ across internal teams through informal mentoring and knowledge sharingQUALIFICATIONS :
58 years of eCommerce experience in content strategy, digital shelf optimization, or performance marketingDeep knowledge of major retailer platforms (Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc.), SEO, PDP strategy, and content syndication toolsExperience with platforms like Helium 10, Walmart Connect, Amazon Ads / Vendor Central, Profitero, Stackline, Salsify, Vizit, or similarExperience translating insights into actionfrom audits to optimization roadmapsStrong communicator and presenter who can simplify the complex and align stakeholdersHighly collaborative and proactive, with experience partnering across creative, copy, insights, and client service teamsUnderstanding of retailer and google algorithmsExpertise in industry best practices and a proactive approach to incorporating new techniques and tools into content strategiesExperience developing omnichannel comms plans that include ecommerce and retail conversionStrong understanding of major retail media platforms - Amazon and WalmartOff-line shopper marketing strategy experience in the CPG categoryOccasional travel either locally, nationally, and / or internationally may be required.PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT :

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000 USD annually. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate's location, experience, and other job-related factors.
