RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER
POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for collecting, interpreting and reviewing clinical data.
Participates in the development of the plan of care and provides medically prescribed respiratory therapy services to Novant Health UVA Health System Culpeper Medical Center patients.
Operates equipment used in all respiratory procedures.
Assess respiratory needs of all age groups of patients.
A clinical resource for respiratory care.
Able to communicate effectively to identify and solve problems, working with other healthcare providers.
Is flexible with work schedule insuring coverage for the RT department.
Attends staff meetings, other hospital wide inservices and participates on committees as required.

REQUIREMENTS
Education :
Certificate, Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree from accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
Experience :
6 months clinical experience in an acute care setting with neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric populations preferred.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required :
Ability to read, write and communicate verbally.
Basic computer knowledge / skills.
Manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform procedures.
Able to lift 25 pounds, push, pull and stand for long periods of time.
Licensure / Certification :
CRT or RRT
Certified in AHA BLS Healthcare Providers. NRP certification or obtain within RT orientation.
VA State Licensure
Completes 2 Respiratory Care competencies / year.
