About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : Nursing

Specialty : Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Nights

Hours per Shift : 11.50

Experience : 2 years preferred

License : RN License

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, PALS

Must-Have : BSN prepared

Competent in ventilation, tracheostomy, and gastrostomy tubes

Medication titration and arterial lines experience

Description :

Utilize the nursing process in the provision of direct patient care.

Be responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating all care provided to assigned patients.

Deliver care based on the standards established by the Department of Nursing and other policies and procedures.

Diagnose and treat responses to actual and potential health problems through case finding, health teaching, counseling, and care provision.

Supervise patient care provided by licensed practical nurses, registered nurses on permit, nursing attendants, technicians, and supplemental staff.

Assess the immediate and continuing care needs of the patient and significant others.

Develop comprehensive care plans that include physical needs, patient teaching, discharge planning, and psychosocial / spiritual needs.

Provide direct patient care based on assessed needs and the medical regimen.

Oversee and ensure the provision of all aspects of care for the patient.

Supervise the care provided by other nursing personnel as defined in the scope of practice.

Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate to relevant team members the patient's response to illness and treatment.

Ensure timely reassessment of patient responses to treatment and significant changes in condition and / or diagnosis.

Coordinate the overall plan of care to ensure the implementation of nursing interventions.

Establish care priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and initiate follow-up as indicated.

Assure the plan of care integrates age-specific needs as defined in the unit's scope of care.

Accept responsibility for nursing interventions and outcomes based on clinical judgments.

Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care delivery and the development of nursing standards.

Demonstrate effective communication skills, manage stressful situations, and facilitate interpersonal relationships with other disciplines.

Participate in the orientation of nursing staff.

Assume charge responsibilities as delegated by the manager.

Ensure appropriate patient coverage by assisting co-workers and working on other units as assigned.

Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, significant others, and staff.

Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses.

Participate in meetings, committees, conferences, and educational programs.

Engage in research and pilot projects supported by the nursing department.

Demonstrate responsibility for continuing professional growth and education through attendance at development and education programs.

Pursue baccalaureate or graduate degrees in nursing and appropriate professional certifications.

Participate in relevant professional and community organizations.

Schedule note : Nights - 3 days per week and every other weekend required, no requests for time off.

Skills :

No experience required, but some preferred.

Ability to fully utilize electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare systems relevant to this position.

Good interpersonal skills.
