Job description

Store Worker

Serve as the Store Worker in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) location. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of store worker duties involved in the handling, marking, preparing, and maintaining of stock levels of grocery items. Usually works in an assigned department within the store (e.g., grocery, produce, meat, etc.), but may also perform rotational assignments within all departments.

Responsibilities include :

  • Maintaining adequate stock of resale items.
  • Identifying any obvious spoilage, damage, and out-of-date merchandise.
  • Receiving, supplies, equipment, and resale items.
  • Operating a computer system that calculates and marks prices, and determines weights of merchandise.
  • Transporting items to shelving and display areas.

Qualifications :

Examples of qualifying experience :

  • Ensuring the proper care and handling of resale grocery items.
  • Locating items for customers.
  • Rotating stock, stacking containers, and participating in inventories.
  • Operating a computer system to calculate prices and label merchandise.
  • Arranging stock on shelves and in displays.
  • Physical requirements :

  • Stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and climb for prolonged periods.
  • Lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items weighing up to 50 pounds or more independently and occasionally up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.
  • You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire.

    Applicable supporting documents from the list below :

    Veterans Preference. VEOA eligibility : You must provide a copy of your DD-214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty or other acceptable documentation.

Submit (1) a copy of your agency specific ICTAP eligibility notice or a copy of your separation personnel action form and (2) a copy of your most recent performance appraisal and (3) a copy of your most recent SF 50 or agency notification of personnel action showing your current position, grade level, and duty location.

    Education : You may not use education to qualify.
