The client seeks a Systems Engineer to oversee the architecture, deployment, maintenance, and ongoing support of their enterprise IT infrastructure. This role requires a proactive problem solver who takes initiative, collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams, demonstrates continual attention to detail, and ensures the highest level of operational availability and performance. A successful candidate can rapidly adapt and learn how to operate the front and back end of new products and processes. In addition to the listed responsibilities, additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Duties / Responsibilities
Create, manage and support Windows Servers, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and GPOsConfigure and implement VMware ESXi hosts and Nutanix clusters, ensuring the proper setup and integration of storage, networking, and compute resources to support a reliable and efficient virtualized infrastructureMonitor system health and performance metrics on VMware and Nutanix clusters, identify potential bottlenecks, and proactively address issues to maintain optimal functionality and reliabilityTrack resource utilization on both VMware and Nutanix clusters to detect potential capacity constraints and address them proactivelyOffer technical support to users and IT teams on VMware and Nutanix technologies, addressing questions, resolving issues, and assisting with system operationsManage enterprise storage solutions, including Nutanix Files and Synology, to support business operations.Deploy software patches to Windows Servers and Workstations, using primarily SCCM and staging orchestration to minimize down time as much as possible.Work closely with the MDOT Network Operations Center (NOC), cybersecurity, and desktop support teams to resolve incidents in an efficient and timely mannerManage ticketing systems, ensuring prompt responses and resolution of services requests.Support print server administration, ensuring seamless printer deployment and troubleshootingMaintain Veeam Backup and replication, conducting consistent testing and validation of backup and disaster recovery procedures to confirm readiness for potential incidentsMinimum Qualifications
Eight (8) years of experience providing support to IT systems, including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolutionStrong understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), networking protocols, and server administrationProficiency with Windows and Linux Servers, including Active Directory (AD), GPOs, DNS, and DHCPDeep understanding of VMware virtualization technologies (ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, vSphere) and Horizon VDI administrationStrong knowledge of backup solutions, particularly Veeam Backup & ReplicationExperience managing Synology NAS and enterprise storage environmentsFamiliarity with SCCM for endpoint management, software deployments, and patchingUnderstanding of networking fundamentals, including VLANs, routing and firewallsUnderstanding of Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) architecture and management tools (Plus but not required)Install, configure, and administer Dynamic Environment Manager (Plus but not required)Install, configure, and administer Horizon Connection Server (Plus but not required))Ability to work well in a team and effectively communicate technical informationExperience with data protection and disaster recovery solutionsAbility to work overtime during critical peaksEducation : Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline
