Store/Tienda #14 - Miami (1263 West Flagler Street, Miami 33135) - Shift/Turno: Part-Time/Medio Tiempo - (Afternoon/Por la Tarde) The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the goals, values and operating principles of Sedano's Supermarkets, and in conformity with all laws and regulations governing the company. Every employee is to follow the policies and procedures of his/her department as well as those of the company to ensure smooth operations. Every employee, regardless of job title, is responsible for ensuring a safe environment throughout the store. This includes, but is not limited to immediately securing an area when a hazardous situation occurs, promptly informing the store manager of the situation, and/or promptly taking action to remove the hazardous condition. Every employee must also maintain a friendly attitude, wear the proper uniform or dress code, keep the store stocked and organized, and provide excellent customer service on a regular basis.

The Stock Clerk loads the displays and shelves with groceries and merchandise for sale to the customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Retrieve, load and unload products and merchandise onto cart to move from back room to store displays and/or shelving
• Properly operate department equipment and tools
• Assist with the unloading of delivery trucks
• Keep work area clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards
• Politely greet customers with a smile and provide excellent customer service; attend to customers' needs when looking for store merchandise; calling for manager or supervisor when necessary
• Promptly report maintenance and safety issues, especially with floor conditions to manager on duty
• Report all accidents promptly to manager on duty
• Support other departments when needed in a courteous manner
• Performs other work-related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position
• Maintain punctuality and good attendance in compliance with company policies

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Retrieve shopping carts from parking lot
• Assist with bagging when needed; place items in bags for customers; assist with loading into shopping cart when necessary
• Assist cashiers with price checks on any store merchandise
• May perform general cleaning duties such as mopping and sweeping

Competencies, Skills and/or Qualifications:

• Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in both English and Spanish preferred
• Ability to use department equipment properly to accomplish essential duties of the position
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one situations with directors, managers, customers (both internal and external) and the general public
• Good interpersonal skills
• Takes responsibility for own actions
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
• Basic math, numeral recognition
• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
• Ability to work hours and days scheduled, including holidays and weekends

The individual performs duties in a grocery store environment. He or she maintains frequent contact with supervisors, employees and customers. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.

In this position, there is the possibility of using knives, case cutters, stock cart, shopping carts, manual pallet jack, stepstool, coolers, ice machines, pricing gun, crate opener, baler and cleaning supplies and equipment.
