Investigator I
The State Attorney's Office, 15th Judicial Circuit, is currently accepting applications for an Investigator I. This is an at will position.
Special preference will be given to bilingual applicants with Florida Law Enforcement Certification and a college degree. This position requires a physician's assessment (physical exam) to ensure the applicant is capable of performing the essential functions of a law enforcement officer; a security background check, including fingerprinting, verification of prior employment, a neighborhood check, and successful completion of a drug test as a condition of employment. Applicants who served in the military must submit a copy of their DD Form 214. Some travel required.
Required entry-level knowledge, skills, and abilities include : ability to work in dangerous and stressful situations; to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; to deal with individuals critical situations in an effective manner; to gather and preserve evidence; to describe facts and events accurately; to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to analyze and interpret data; to effectively interview suspects, complainants, and witnesses.
Brief description of duties includes conducting interviews with a wide range of persons, securing documentary evidence, taking sworn statements, conducting physical surveillance, preparing investigative reports, assisting prosecutors in preparation and presentation of misdemeanor and felony cases, obtaining and serving warrants and subpoenas, and making arrests.
Minimum qualifications include being at least 19 years of age, a citizen of the United States, a high school graduate or its equivalent, not having been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, having processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency, having passed a physical examination by a licensed physician, having a good moral character as determined by a background investigation, and possessing a current certification as a Florida law enforcement officer.
Salary and benefits include a starting salary of $64,500.00 annually plus a Comparative Area Differential (CAD) of $5,000.00 per year and a comprehensive benefit package, including low cost health insurance plan options, state paid life insurance policy, supplemental insurance plans offered including dental, vision, hospitalization and more, automatic enrollment in the Florida Retirement System in the Special Risk Class, paid county and state holidays, paid vacation and sick leave accrued on a monthly basis, qualifying employer under Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, and tuition waiver program.
