The Architect / Building Administrator is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and management of building projects, as well as coordinating the administrative, operational, and compliance aspects of plans review, inspections, and construction.
Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
Architectural & Design Duties
Develop and review architectural plans, drawings, and specifications
Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations
Coordinate with engineers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Prepare cost estimates, feasibility studies, and design presentations
Conduct site inspections to verify adherence to design and quality standards
Implement sustainable and energy-efficient design principles where applicable
Building Administration & Operations
Oversee building operations, maintenance, and facility management functions
Manage space planning, renovations, and modifications within facilities
Ensure compliance with life safety codes, ADA requirements, fire safety, and environmental standards
Maintain building records, drawings, permits, and regulatory documentation
Supervise building support staff, contractors, and vendors
Monitor budgets, contracts, and procurement related to facility operations
Business Development & Client Relations
Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in Private Provider Plans Review and Building Inspections
Develop and maintain strong client relationships to generate repeat and referral business
Participate in marketing, networking events, and industry associations to increase visibility
Prepare and deliver project proposals, presentations, and qualifications packages
Collaborate with leadership on strategic growth initiatives, revenue goals, and market positioning
Conduct market research to identify trends, competitors, and opportunities
Project & Administrative Management
Serve as liaison between ownership, contractors, tenants, and regulatory agencies
Prepare progress reports, project documentation, and administrative correspondence
Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
Resolve design, construction, and administrative issues in a timely manner
Qualifications
Education, experience, licensure, and skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Building Science, Construction Management, or related field.
Licensed Architect (preferred) or ability to obtain licensure and / or Building Code Administrator, Inspector, or Plans Examiner (multiple fields)
5+ years of experience in architecture, construction administration, or facility management.
Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and permitting processes.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design / management software.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
