Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Itinerant)

Location : Sumter, SC

About the Role :

Blazer Jobs is actively hiring a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to serve approximately 30 students across multiple school sites in the Sumter, SC area. This itinerant role is ideal for a skilled educator who enjoys variety and collaboration, supporting students, teachers, and staff in multiple educational settings.

Responsibilities :

Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing impairments across assigned schools.

Support general education and special education teachers with FM systems and other assistive hearing technologies.

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address communication and academic goals.

Collaborate with audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and school staff to promote access and inclusion.

Conduct assessments, track student progress, and maintain all required documentation.

Serve as a resource for staff and families to improve understanding and strategies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications (South Carolina) :

Active South Carolina Teaching License required.

Certification or endorsement in Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH) education or equivalent licensure.

Experience working in itinerant or multi-site educational environments preferred.

Strong communication and collaboration skills with diverse teams.
