Overview
The Department of Psychiatry at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) has an outstanding opportunity for a licensed clinical psychologist (PhD, PsyD) interested in providing care for patients at Unity Center for Behavioral Health’s (UCBH) new ambulatory Bridge Clinic. The Inpatient and Psychiatric Emergency teams at UCBH provide comprehensive behavioral health evaluations, manage acute / complex psychiatric issues, establish recovery-oriented treatment plans, and facilitate connections with outpatient resources. Upon discharge, many patients lack established outpatient resources and face long wait times. This gap in care results in high rates of recidivism and increases risk of further morbidity.
The UCBH Bridge Clinic has been established to provide rapid access to psychiatric care including brief psychotherapeutic interventions, medication interventions, and case management for patients recently discharged from psychiatric emergency or inpatient services and who lack immediately available outpatient psychiatric follow-up. The bridge clinic’s mission is to improve access to outpatient resources, maintain treatment adherence, continue recovery, connect with longer-term psychiatric providers.
The roles of the psychologist will include to assess and reduce suicide risk through evidenced-based risk assessment tools, provide brief psychotherapeutic support, and liaison with inpatient and psychiatric emergency services. It is important to highlight that UCBH is a major training site for mental health professionals in the state of Oregon and the Bridge Clinic Psychologist will interface with, provide mentorship, supervise psychiatry and psychology learners in training.
