Overview
Lead pharmacy strategic partnerships and GPO initiatives for a national healthcare supply chain organization headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. This AVP Pharmacy Strategic Partnerships role provides senior leadership for key strategic partnerships, specialty pharmacy programs, consulting engagements, and supplier relationships while working closely with GPO leadership, membership, and external partners to create shared value. The position oversees 2 direct reports (Senior Directors) and requires on-site presence in Nashville with 10-15% travel. This role combines pharmacy expertise with business strategy, financial analysis, consulting, and program optimization to drive pharmaceutical savings and enhance specialty pharmacy services across a national healthcare network. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for key strategic initiatives and external relations as determined by VP of Pharmacy and senior leadership team.
- Lead day-to-day optimization of specialty GPO pharmacy program, working closely with specialty GPO partners to provide guidance and ensure program success.
- Coordinate with internal sourcing, account management, and PBM teams to understand business changes and their impact on specialty programs.
- Assimilate information from variety of sources, analyze financial data, make recommendations, and execute pharmaceutical savings opportunities.
- Lead and mentor pharmacy team members including Senior Directors and other direct reports.
- Support onboarding of new members for specialty pharmacy programs and provide leadership in issue resolution with stakeholders.
- Lead key client consulting engagements at senior level, defining vision, identifying milestones, determining gaps, and setting actionable goals.
- Manage projects within scope, time, and budget while leading client discussions to present analysis and facilitate decision-making.
- Meet and build relationships with senior executives (CEO, CFO, COO) by presenting industry trends and gaining buy-in for consulting services.
- Interpret, analyze, and summarize key financial performance information from members, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Leverage financial metrics to identify opportunities, measure progress, and provide recommendations for pharmacy supply expense improvement.
- Direct multiple projects in fast-paced environment demonstrating strong organizational, planning, implementation, and execution skills.
- Lead cross-functional working groups and develop project plans for major complex initiatives.
- Support non-acute pharmacy expansion, supplier interaction, negotiations, and sourcing team operations.
- Participate in sales pursuits, develop presentation materials, and interface with marketing to create go-to-market collateral.
- Maintain professional competence in pharmacy services, management practices, healthcare economics, and managed care reimbursement.
- Supervise team resources including Senior Directors, Directors, Managers, pharmacy residents, students, and analysts.
Qualifications
Required :
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (RPh) degreeActive pharmacy licensure in good standingMinimum 10 years of progressive acute care pharmacy leadership experienceMinimum 8 years of experience in pharmacy supply expense management, consulting, or GPO operationsDemonstrated expertise in strategic partnerships, supplier negotiations, and contract managementStrong analytical and financial acumen with ability to interpret complex data and make strategic recommendationsExcellent communication skills including verbal, written, listening, and presentation abilitiesAbility to work on-site in Nashville, TN (no remote / hybrid)Availability for 10-15% travelPreferred :
