We are a leading industrial metals solutions company. We operate using a circular manufacturing model, producing lower-carbon-emission, quality products with recycled scrap as the primary input. We are one of the largest domestic steel producers and metal recyclers in North America, combined with a meaningful downstream steel fabrication platform. The company is also currently investing in aluminum operations to further diversify its product offerings. The Steel Dynamics Aviation Team

Steel Dynamics is committed to achieving world class safety performance, and safety is always at the forefront of decision making across the company. Our corporate flight department reflects that same culture through disciplined planning, crew coordination, and active participation in our Safety Management System, supporting a modern fleet that includes Challenger 3500s. The team averages approximately 300 to 350 flight hours annually, with a schedule that can range from weeks with little to no flying to higher tempo weeks of 20 to 30 hours, and a predictable planning cadence where most flights are scheduled about a week in advance and short notice callouts are rare.

Responsibilities

The Role

• The Second-in-Command reports functionally to the Pilot-in-Command during the assigned flight and administratively to the Chief Pilot on other matters.
• Assists the PIC in the safe and efficient conduct of the flight;
• Maintains a working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the Pilot-in-Command;
• Assumes PIC duties, including control of the flight, in the event of PIC incapacitation;
• Participates in the Safety Management System.

Qualifications

Requirements

• Holds at least a Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument and Multi-Engine Rating;
• Possess a First Class FAA Medical Certificate;
• Possess a valid U.S. Passport.
• Previous Jet Experience.

Preferred

• Possesses a Bachelor's degree (highly desirable).
• Holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with Multi-Engine Rating and is type rated in the appropriate aircraft.
• CL30 Type Rating strongly preferred
• 3500 Hours Total Flight Time
