Overview
GovCIO is looking for an AWS Solutions Architect with DevSecOps experience to drive development, support, and architectural leadership for a key government application transitioning to the AWS cloud. This role is fully remote and is expected to last from 8 / 1 / 2025 to 3 / 20 / 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and code applications or modules using C++, Java, Angular, and AWS.
- Maintain and upgrade existing software systems to comply with software standards.
- Design user interfaces (GUIs) tailored to user needs.
- Document program development, prepare operating instructions, and assess system capabilities to address queries on program intent and output requirements.
- Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle for AWS solutions, from planning to quality assurance.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and implement preventive solutions.
- Educate teams on new cloud-based initiatives, providing necessary training.
- Develop architectural blueprints for hybrid cloud infrastructures centered on AWS.
- Ensure timely delivery of quality solutions that meet client expectations.
- Contribute to the definition of architecture for cloud initiatives applying industry best practices.
- Deliver solutions that incorporate cloud engineering best practices and develop technical content, such as white papers.
- Engage in project planning and collaboration with fellow developers.
- Implement application structure for cloud solutions, manage debugging, and contribute to disaster recovery strategies.
- Set up blue-green deployment environments and utilize development optimization tools.
- Automate deployment processes and identify the best cloud technology stack for each project.
- Conduct post-release modifications and updates as necessary.
Qualifications
To qualify, candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience or equivalent experience.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.8+ years of relevant solutions design and engineering experience, particularly with AWS or similar platforms.Experience with CI / CD tools such as GitLab and Agile methodologies.Strong capabilities in systems reliability, load balancing, monitoring, and logging.Experience automating CI / CD pipelines from code commits to production.Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) management.Proficiency in UNIX / Linux environment setup and troubleshooting.Strong automation skills, particularly in Terraform and other automation languages like Ansible, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet.Deep knowledge of cloud architecture and components including Microservices, Containers, IaaS, Storage, and Security.AWS Associate / Professional certification and strong English communication skills.Expert coding proficiency and knowledge of AWS tools.Experience with DevOps practices and optimization tools.Clearance Required : Candidates must be able to acquire and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
