What you’ll do
Own electrical design deliverables : schematics, panel layouts, and drawings (AutoCAD / SolidWorks) and the electrical BOM.Translate mechanical prints into control-system requirements and safety circuits.Evaluate and select supplier components; help define and maintain engineering standards.Bring equipment to life : power up panels, configure IO, networks, drives, and devices per spec.Support the build : audit assembly quality and mentor technicians / assemblers.Partner with Sales Engineers to scope solutions and provide technical inputs for quotes.Develop PLC logic and HMI / SCADA interfaces from scratch or from customer specifications.Capture communication, networking, and HMI requirements and formalize them into software specs.Update and optimize legacy code in-house and at customer sites.Diagnose controls issues on installed systems to reduce downtime and elevate performance.Write clear, usable documentation : user manuals, test plans, troubleshooting guides, and spare parts lists with vendor details.Join cross-functional requirement reviews with Mechanical Engineering to ensure correct feature implementation.Continuously improve : identify process optimizations and adopt automation best practices.Run simulations and lead FAT / SAT to validate performance before and after install.What makes you a great fit
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSEE preferred) or related discipline.4+ years in industrial automation / controls.Fluent with AutoCAD or SolidWorks for electrical design.PLC programming experience (Allen‑Bradley, Omron) and HMI configuration / design (Allen‑Bradley).Comfortable with motion control / actuators; working knowledge of UL and CE standards.Proven troubleshooting, strong problem-solving, and effective communication.Nice to have : vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) and robot programming (ABB, Fanuc).About Overton Industries
