About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

License : New York license required in hand

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Must-Have : Must have New York license in hand - no exceptions

Description : Specialty : CICU

Shift : 3x12 Nights 19 : 00-07 : 30

Weekend requirements : Every other weekend

Local candidates accepted : No, must be over 75-mile radius

First-time travelers accepted : Yes

Patient population includes : sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, multi-organ failure, post-cardiac arrest, respiratory failure / shock, CRRT, EKOS, IABP, ECMO, and Impella

Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2 with occasional 1 : 1 based on acuity.

Daily census : 7

Patient age groups : Adolescents, adults, geriatrics

Interdisciplinary support includes : IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy

Patient diagnoses include : heart failure

Charting system experience preferred : Epic

Previous charge experience is preferred

Candidate will float as needed

Skills include :

Arterial line management

Assisting with chest tube insertion / removal

Management of BiPAP and CPAP

Blood product administration

Care of patients on ECMO

Management of ventilated patients

Central line care and management

Continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade

Management of dysrhythmias

Obtaining 12 lead EKG / ECG

PICC line management

Surgical wounds with drains / Wound Vac

Ventilator management

Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips

Care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction / failure

Interpretation of arterial blood gases
